Custom Connect expands Cloud Connect Offering from Equinix

Amsterdam, 25 August 2016 — Custom Connect, the carrier-neutral data communications provider, has created a Point of Presence in Equinix’s AM3 International Business Exchange (IBX®) data center in Amsterdam to extend its Cloud Connect services for Europe, the Middle East and Asia.

The data center is becoming a hotbed for all kinds of Cloud initiatives and services. Major players such as Google Cloud Platform, AWS or Microsoft Azure and smaller SaaS vendors are utilizing the data center to connect with their customers. The Equinix Cloud Exchange™ allows businesses to deploy hybrid cloud architectures for essential business applications by providing access to cloud service providers via a private, high-speed, low-latency connection that bypasses the public Internet. “With Equinix Cloud Exchange, AM3 forms the central hub in Western-Europe that enables Cloud Providers, carriers and enterprises worldwide to reach new business opportunities. This creates a natural environment for our Cloud Connect offering,” said Rutger Bevaart, CTO and Lead Architect with Custom Connect.

Custom Connect Cloud Connect provides low-latency, high-bandwidth connectivity between enterprises, Cloud Providers, and carriers through its integrated AS260 managed network platform. AS260 is a fully managed service of Cloud, WAN connectivity and internet access. Thanks to AS260, customers do not need to create many connections between their worldwide locations, data centers and the various Cloud Providers. This means they only have to connect to AS260 for their global data communications and Cloud Connectivity – which provides increased flexibility.

Bevaart: “Enterprise integration of Cloud within the existing IT is trending. There is no single blueprint to achieve this as every enterprise is different. Companies tend to create these integrations themselves. When they want to replace or add a Cloud Service, they have to rework their integration. Our Cloud Connect service eliminates this need. Customers simply connect to our AS260 platform.”

Equinix’s AM3 data center at Science Park in Amsterdam is a major low-latency gateway to the European continent — reaching 80% of Europe within 50 milliseconds. The data center is home to a rich business ecosystem of the world’s top mobile networks and service enablers, social media and video sites, cloud companies, advertising businesses and electronic traders. Equinix’s Amsterdam data centers provide significant carrier and cloud density, making them ideal sites to optimise network performance and deploy hybrid cloud architectures. With 146 IBX data centers in 40 markets, Platform Equinix™ provides customers even more ways to connect with other businesses around the world.

“At Equinix, we understand the importance of carrier-neutrality because it allows customers to remain flexible and balance price/performance. Equinix Cloud Exchange brings customers, Cloud Providers and carriers together. However, it is up to the customer to pick the best carriers and the best network paths for their international business. Custom Connect advises on the connectivity that best matches the customer’s business requirements and designs, as well as builds and manages the infrastructure. Their specialised connectivity services combined with our offerings facilitate a rich cloud experience,” said Michiel Eielts, Managing Director, Equinix Netherlands.
